Southern University Media Clubs: Join the Team!
Are you a passionate student interested in journalism, art, literature, or film? If so, we invite you to join our team at Southern University’s student media board. Our clubs are run by dedicated students who get paid to do what they love. Expected hours of work differ between positions, but they are generally part time and flexible for student workers!

Spring 2024 Job Openings

As the Spring 2024 semester approaches, we have several exciting job openings due to graduating seniors and students with increased commitments. The positions that are currently available are listed below:

Crescent Magazine:

  • Co-Features Editor:
    • Responsibilities include working with the Features Editor to plan, pitch, and edit feature stories.
    • Strong writing and editing skills are preferred.
  • Copy Editors:
    • Responsibilities include proofreading and editing articles for clarity, grammar, and style.
  • Assistant Photo Editor:
    • Responsibilities include assisting the Photo Editor in selecting, editing, and captioning photos for publication.
    • Basic photo editing skills are preferred.

Southern News:

  • Editor-in-Chief:
    • Responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of the newspaper’s production, from content planning to editing.
    • Must have strong leadership and editorial skills.
  • Online Assistant:
    • Responsibilities include managing the newspaper’s website and social media accounts.
  • Sports Writer:
    • Responsibilities include covering sporting events and writing articles for the newspaper.
    • A strong understanding of sports and the ability to write clear and concise articles is preferred.

Folio:

  • Poetry Editor:
    • Responsibilities include reading through poetry submissions and selecting pieces for publication.
    • Understanding of poetry and a keen eye for literary merit are preferred.
  • Art Editor:
    • Responsibilities include reviewing art submissions and selecting pieces for publication.

SCSU TV:

  • Operations Manager:
    • Serves as VP for the club and oversees all aspects of SCSU TV’s operations, from studio production to equipment management.

WSIN Radio:

  • News Director:
    • Oversees the WSIN Radio newsroom and its staff
    • Strong journalistic skills and a passion for broadcasting are preferred
  • Production Director:
    • Responsible for overseeing the production of WSIN Radio’s programming
    • Manages technical aspects of programming to develop and produce shows
